Meet our guest speakers:
- Sophie Anstis: The Senior Team Leader of Volunteer Crisis Support at Lifeline Geelong. Sophie's Lifeline journey began in 2018 as a crisis support volunteer herself to gain practical experience of providing emotional support, because although studying Bachelor of Criminology & Psychology and Honours in Psychology provides an incredible theory-based understanding of mental health, there was little opportunity for real-world practice. Sophie now spends her time training, mentoring, and supporting the wellbeing and practice of the Geelong team volunteer crisis supporters.
- Ann Cormack: Annie's first experiences working with those with Mental Health issues was in Outdoor Education, taking groups on expeditions. Namely those termed "youth at risk", Breaking the cycle, long termed unemployed and many others. These were based on personal development and getting back to basics and I believe were the most powerful experiences in terms of changing individuals' view of the world. With a Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health in Education, Annie set out to educate teachers in understanding mental health issues along with educating future practitioners in the Mental Health field.
