What if someone you care about was struggling with their mental health? Would you know how to help?

Every day, people in our families, workplaces and communities experience mental health challenges. Often, it's not about having all the answers—it's about knowing how to recognise the signs, start a supportive conversation and respond safely when someone needs help.

This nationally recognised course has been developed for everyday people who want to make a difference. Through practical activities, realistic scenarios and guided discussions, you'll build the confidence to support someone experiencing a mental health concern or crisis while understanding the importance of professional support and referral.

Whether you're a parent, teacher, coach, volunteer, support worker, manager or simply someone who wants to be better prepared, you'll leave with practical skills you can use in everyday life.

During the course you'll learn how to:

  • Recognise common mental health concerns and signs of distress
  • Respond appropriately during a mental health crisis
  • Communicate with empathy and confidence
  • Support someone while maintaining healthy boundaries
  • Connect people with appropriate professional services
  • Build safer, more supportive workplaces and communities

Successful participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for:

  • CHCMHS001 – Work with people with mental health issues
  • CHCCCS019 – Recognise and respond to crisis situations

This course is delivered by KsafeT, in partnership with Art of the Mind, with a shared commitment to creating stronger, more connected communities where people feel confident to support one another. The course includes blended learning, practical face-to-face activities and scenario-based assessments consistent with the training strategy.
